Meet Lisa Poff, LCSW
Recognize your needs. Rediscover yourself. Reignite your spark.
Burnout therapist in person in L.A. and online across CA
Are you tired of taking care of everyone else except yourself?
Does life feel like a drudgery?
Are you exhausted and depleted?
Prioritizing your needs is essential to recovering from burnout.
I'm here for you. This is a space where you can feel truly seen and understood. We'll work together to figure out what’s best for you, with me offering support, care, encouragement, and maybe even a few laughs along the way to help lighten the load and keep you moving toward your goals.
My approach
Working with me is all about being your authentic self.
Our sessions might involve processing recent stressful events, exploring past traumas, setting healthy boundaries, or learning practical coping strategies to make daily life more manageable.
However, I also understand that when people are going through a particularly challenging time, what is needed is not advice or solutions, but someone who will be truly present with you, deeply listen, and offer emotional support. My aim is to create this safe space where you can speak freely with no judgment.
There will not be a lot of “homework” where you have to add more to your list.
Your “work” will consist of incrementally increasing space for rest, recovery, and activities that bring you joy. The steps will be small so as not to overburden you with a seemingly insurmountable feat, and I will be there to hold you accountable to your chosen goals and cheer you on.
You’ve tried to do this on your own for far too long. Having someone who is solely there for you, whose job is to support you on your healing journey is vital for making progress toward your goals. The light inside of you has temporarily burned out, and I will hold a candle until you are able to see in the darkness and find your way back to who you really are.
While schooling and training gives me an expertise in mental health, I bring lived experience to the table.
I worked for a major entertainment studio for close to a decade before having two children, one with a rare syndrome requiring twenty surgeries so far. Life has never been the same.
As a divorced single mother, a caregiver of a child with complex special needs, and a therapist, I understand that burnout is real. That’s why I’m committed to meeting you exactly where you are and supporting you in learning how to take better care of yourself.
I see you.
I know firsthand how challenging it is to prioritize your needs in the thick of it.
I know that it’s not just the overused “self-care” which feels like someone handing you a floaty in a tsunami. I know that trite phrases such as “God never gives you more than you can handle” are not helpful.
While my experiences have shaped who I am and allowed me to have tremendous empathy for others experiencing burnout, I recognize and honor your individual experience. Clients have shared that they feel seen, heard, and understood when working with me, some for the first time in their lives. Feeling like you’re in a safe space to be your authentic self is how change begins.
I am deeply committed to “filling my cup” for my own happiness and the benefit of everyone I support, both personally and professionally. Some of the things I enjoy are prioritizing sleep, practicing yoga, spending time with friends, cuddling with pets, nature walks, concerts, weekend getaways, and creative writing. You will find some of my poetry as writing prompts for blog posts here.
